SNA: New USDA school meal rules are "unrealistic"

New USDA school lunch nutrition standards limiting added sugar and sodium and focusing on whole grains will be implemented over the next several years, and the School Nutrition Association is arguing that these new rules will put undue challenges on school nutrition professionals who already are struggling to meet current standards. "As schools nationwide contend with persistent supply chain, labor and financial challenges, school meal programs are struggling to successfully maintain current standards and need support, not additional, unrealistic requirements," said SNA President Lori Adkins.
