USDA grants bring more fresh produce to schools

The US Department of Agriculture has extended its produce grant program for another year, with awards to 139 Idaho elementary schools ranging from $8,475 to $35,625. The grants are part of the state's Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program which encourages healthier food choices among students, and the funding will provide fresh fruits and vegetables as afternoon snacks on Wednesdays and Thursdays to eligible schools.
