A coalition of school, health and environmental advocacy groups is asking the US Department of Education to extend the deadline to December 2026 from September 2024 to spend federal coronavirus relief funds for construction and capital improvement projects. At issue, they say, is that schools are competing for limited supplies of contractors and materials, which is driving up prices and leading to delays.
