SNA Implements Remote Operation Telework Plan

Thank you for your efforts to ensure that vulnerable students in your schools are being fed during this crisis. The School Nutrition Association (SNA) continues to actively monitor the spread and impact of the coronavirus. During this crisis, the well-being of our members and staff remains our top priority. Therefore, we have decided to implement our Remote Operations (Telework) Plan to ensure our work continues while also making every effort to protect the health of our staff and community.

Beginning Friday, March 13, SNA’s physical office will close, and remote operations will begin. We are making this transition as smooth as possible to limit any disruptions in our workflow. All staff will be able to access work files securely and will be able to communicate with each other, our members, vendors and other stakeholders, through email, phone and online meeting tools. In turn, you will be able to reach anyone on staff as you usually do, and you can call the Service Center at SNA and leave a message at (800) 877-8822 or by email at [email protected]. We will be monitoring all calls and emails and will return them as soon as possible.

SNA’s website and social media channels will also remain operational to ensure all members and stakeholders have the latest news and updates on the impact of coronavirus on school nutrition programs and efforts on the federal level to mitigate negative outcomes of the pandemic. SNA staff has been in contact with USDA and Congressional staff all week advocating for more flexibility in order to provide more access to school meals for the nearly 22 million free and reduced-price students who receive school lunch and breakfast every day. Please stay tuned to SNA’s coronavirus resource page and to our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

As a result of planning and various communications tools, we expect you will see little to no difference in our operations, regardless of the location of our staff members. You will continue to receive School Nutrition; all newsletters and our webinars will be scheduled as usual. Next Wednesday, March 18 at 2:00 pm EST, SNA will host a webinar on Serving Students School Meals during COVID-19.

SNA will continue to monitor this rapidly evolving situation and will keep you posted on when we will return to our office’s physical location in Arlington, VA.

Please reach out to SNA with any questions, and remember to take care of yourself and be well.
