USDA: Flavored milk can remain on school lunch menus
April 30, 2024
The USDA will allow flavored milk like chocolate milk to remain part of the school lunch menu as long as it meets the new reduced sugar regulations, which take effect in fall 2025. Originally, the USDA had opposed flavored milk, but the department agreed to allow the beverage after securing assurances from milk manufacturers that the flavored milk offered would meet the new sugar limitations.
