Texas district's program brings global flavors to lunches

The Port Aransas Independent School District in Texas has launched the Passport Program to introduce elementary students to global cultures through their school lunches. Spearheaded by the district's food services director, Suzanne Horine, the initiative uses a paper passport system to reward students with stamps for trying cuisines from different countries. So far, German and Cuban dishes have been popular, and Indian cuisine is planned for the next cultural day in December.
