Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction Requests Funding for Universal Free School Meals in Upcoming BudgetFoodService Director, October 30, 2024 

Wisconsin may be the next state to implement a Healthy School Meals for All program. The state’s Superintendent of Public Instruction has requested almost $294 million in the upcoming budget to provide school meals at no charge to all students. The funding would also support local food-purchasing programs for schools, expand the school breakfast program to include independent charter schools, and increase the breakfast reimbursement rate.
