The role of the President …
is to serve as the chief officer of the chapter and provide leadership to move the chapter forward.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the chief officer of the chapter, chairperson of the Executive Board of the chapter.
- Preside at all meetings of the chapter.
- Represent the chapter as a delegate to the MdSNA House of Delegates.
- Appoint chairpersons for appropriate committees in the chapter.
- Represent the chapter at MdSNA Executive Board meetings.
- Serve as the communications liaison between the chapter and MdSNA.
Activities:
- Receive from the outgoing President, records and materials pertaining to the business of the chapter.
- Plan to attend the MdSNA Leadership Training Workshop.
- Appoint chairpersons for committees and past president as chairperson of the nominating committee.
- Submit names of chapter officers to MdSNA Executive Secretary at beginning of term of office.
- Along with other chapter officers establish a calendar of activities for the year for the chapter.
- Arrange for a location for the chapter meetings in accordance with the established schedule.
- Preside at all meetings of the chapter and all Executive Board meetings.
- Plan to attend MdSNA Annual Convention in October to represent the chapter as a delegate to the House of Delegates for the Maryland School Nutrition Association.
- Develop a Program of Work for the chapter based on the MdSNA Program of Work.
- Select candidates from chapter for Heart of the Program, Louise Sublette, and Rhonda Motley Gold Success Awards and submit to MdSNA by appropriate deadlines.
- Establish a good working relationship with the county Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
- Attend Executive Board meeting of MdSNA whenever possible to serve as a communications liaison between the chapter and MdSNA.
- Plan to attend the MdSNA Legislative Workshop along with other chapter members.
- Maintain memberships in chapter, MdSNA, and SNA.
- Promote chapter attendance at MdSNA Spring Workshop.
- Take action on correspondence received from MdSNA or others.
- Summarize and submit chapter activities information for each quarterly issue of the Serving Spoon newsletter by established deadlines.
- Review financial reports and assure that budgetary constraints are followed.
- Assist in the preparation of a ballot for election of new officers.
- At end of the year in office prepare and submit an annual report to the members of MdSNA for the annual MdSNA House of Delegates.
- Complete final report on Program of Work and submit to MdSNA President.
- Hold office until the installation of new Officers.
The role of the President-Elect…
is to assure continuity in the leadership of the chapter and to provide for a smooth transition into the office of President.
Responsibilities:
- Serve required term. At the close of the time in office automatically become President. Succeed to the office of President in the case of a vacancy in that office and then serve as President until the term of office to which elected is completed.
- Plan to attend the MdSNA Leadership Training Workshop.
- Serve as chair of program planning for the chapter.
- Plan to attend MdSNA’s Annual Convention in October to represent the chapter as a delegate to the House of Delegates for the Maryland School Nutrition Association.
- Serve as a member of the chapter’s Executive Board.
- Attend all chapter meetings and Executive Board meetings.
- Perform the function of the office of President in his/her absence.
- Attend Executive Board meetings of MdSNA whenever possible.
- Attend MdSNA Legislative Workshop.
- Maintain memberships in chapter, MdSNA, and SNA.
- Prepare to assume the office of President.
- Represent the chapter as requested by the President.
- Fulfill other duties as requested by President.
The role of the Secretary…
is to keep accurate records from each meeting with definite information of all correspondence and actions involved.
Responsibilities:
- Serve for two years.
- Keep accurate, legible records of all proceedings of each meeting and file in a permanent record to maintain the history of the chapter.
- Keep records of names, addresses, and telephone numbers of all officers and committee chairpersons.
- Attend and record all chapter meetings and Executive Board meetings.
- Serve as a member of the Chapter Executive Board.
- Prepare correspondence as directed by the President.
The role of the Treasurer…
is to handle all financial affairs of the Chapter.
Responsibilities:
- Serve for two years.
- Serve as a member of the Chapter Executive Board.
- Receive and maintain all chapter funds.
- Keep full and accurate accounts of all receipts and disbursements in books belonging to the chapter.
- Make sure new signature cards from the bank are completed.
- Write and sign checks and pay all bills, with proper invoices, which have been approved by the President.
- Attend all chapter meetings and Executive Board meetings.
- At each meeting during the year, present a detailed report of all income and expenses.
- Render an account of treasury activities each year and at the end of the term in office.
