Early peanut consumption may prevent allergy later on

Feeding children peanuts regularly from infancy to age 5 years has been shown to reduce the rate of peanut allergy in adolescence, according to a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine. The follow-up study demonstrated sustained benefits of early peanut consumption, with only 4.4% of early peanut consumers developing allergies by age 13 compared with 15.4% of those who avoided peanuts.
