USDA: Fully cooking meat would kill avian flu virus

While no evidence of avian flu has been found in the US beef supply, the USDA says that fully cooking meat to the standard recommended 160 degree internal temperature for hamburger would effectively kill the virus if it were present. The USDA has issued alerts about dairy cattle infected with the avian flu virus and reiterated its long-standing warning to consumers not to drink raw milk.
