Minnesota has officially signed on to the USDA's new Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program and will receive nearly $3.5 million to foster purchases of local food for school nutrition programs. The money will be distributed to schools through a farm-to-school grant program that encourages sourcing food through small local farms and businesses.
