Amid staggering shortages of teachers, paraprofessionals and bus drivers, the shortage of school superintendents may be overlooked. National data is lacking, but one analysis found that about one-fourth of school superintendents had turnover in 2020-21 and 2021-22, the highest rate since 2018, according to the nonprofit Education Resource Strategies.
