Washington, D.C., and Maryland are joining states like New York, California, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts in easing pandemic public health restrictions, citing a steep decline in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. The District of Columbia will no longer require widespread use of masks starting next month, and residents won't need to prove their vaccination status to enter businesses starting today, while Maryland's mask requirements for state buildings will end next week, and Gov. Larry Hogan urged the state board of education to revoke its mask policy for schools.
