SNA disappointed by loss of free meals in Keep Kids Fed Act

The School Nutrition Association is disappointed that a key provision that eliminates "the reduced-price meal co-pay for eligible families, struggling with rising food and gas costs" was removed from the Keep Kids Fed Act, SNA President Beth Wallace said in a statement, adding that the loss of free meals for all students puts these children at risk for hunger. Sherri Parks, nutrition director for Surry County Schools in North Carolina, said she also was disappointed by the version of the bill that passed, calling it a "Band-Aid" solution.
